Registration: Pre-register online until June 25, 2014 at 9:00pm or on race day from
11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Beginner Instruction: For those new to the sport of orienteering, brief instruction on the use of
map and compass will be provided at 11:45am.

Entry Fees: As this meet is a fundraiser for junior development, all junior (<19)
entries are free. Adults: $15 pre-registered; $20 race day. Family/Wayfarer Group: $20 pre-registered; $25 race day.

Start: Staggered starts begin at 1:00 pm. A start list will be posted by 9:00pm on June 27, 2014 on the OANS website (see below); participants registering on race day will be provided start times at registration.

Type: Point-to-point. A traditional sprint course, where all controls are visited in numerical order. This is a Canada Cup Event, meaning the event will have a full range of age classes and courses available.

Summary: Hilly terrain with numerous buildings. Some forest, but mostly open grassed lawns and paved or gravel paths to run on.

Categories: Standard Orienteering Canada age classes as follows (as well as an open category on each course. RWT=Recommended Winning Time)

Sprint Course 1 Categories: W12, M12, W13-14, M13-14, Open 1 M, W (RWT 10-12min)
Sprint Course 2 Categories: W55-64, W65-74, W75-79, W80+, M80+, Open 2 M, W (RWT 12-15min)
Sprint Course 3 Categories: W45-54, M55-64, M65-74, Open 3 M, W (RWT 12-15min)
Sprint Course 4 Categories: W15-16, M15-16, W17-20, W21-34E, W35-44, Open 4, M, W (RWT 12-15min)
Sprint Course 5 Categories: M17-20, M21-34E, M35-44, M45-54 (RWT 12-15min; 15+ for M45)

To Pre-reigster: Email Cheryl Smith (fiddlesqueak@hotmail.com ) by 9 pm 25th June, 2014. Include full name, course/category entered. Indicate your SI number (if you own one) or if rental needed.

Directions: From Metropolitan Halifax and any points East or West: take Hwy # 101 to
Greenwich exchange, Exit 11. Follow North to intersection of Hwy 1 and exit road by Blomindon Nursery. Turning right at stop lights, proceed East to Wolfville and Acadia University. Turn right on Highland Ave (just after you pass the University). Proceed up the hill approximately 400m. Turn right into the University just after Fairfield Street. Head toward the tallest building (the Tower); parking will be on the right before you reach the Tower. Any further details regarding parking and start area will be posted on the OANS website (see below) prior to the event.

Bathrooms: There will be port-a-potties just across the road from the Tower (SW corner of building). Also, the Beveridge Arts Centre will be open to use the facilities--building is on the corner of Main St. and Highland Ave. The best entrance is the NE entrance facing Highland. Just inside the door and to the right will be a Folk Art exhibit open from 12:00 to 16:00 hrs and we are welcome to visit. Then just in the hallway will be washrooms.

Dick James was a founding member of the Orienteering Association of Nova Scotia and a past Board member of the Canadian Orienteering (now Orienteering Canada). His passion for Orienteering was reflected in the thousands of hours he devoted to growing the sport over the years. Proceeds from this event will allow a donation to be made in Dick’s name to Orienteering Canada’s Canadian National Junior Team.
