Meet Report for Debert Daredevil Event June 5th 2010
With near perfect Orienteering weather 48 participants showed up in Debert ready to meet the challenge. There were four courses, a beginner with 19 participants, Intermediate with 19, the long score course with 6 going the distance and 4 on the bike course. When you account for groups we had 24 starts. From this group we had 37 as day members and 11 as full members.
As usual the biggest challenge in Debert is keeping all the trails straight a wrong turn could see you travelling quite a distance before you realize your mistake. This played a factor for half a dozen on the intermediate course resulting in them getting a DNF, did not finish. They should be aware that even the best navigators make the same mistakes when there are so many trails to keep track of so I hope the new participants will come out and give it a try in another park.
I want to acknowledge Alex Regan who helped set out controls, did registration, results and helped collect controls at the end of the day.
