Acadia Sprint 23 June, 2012
This Annapolis Valley Orienteering Club logo (AVOC) established in 1981 is arguably the longest serving orienteering club in Nova Scotia and it was on the Acadia Sprint map for our event on 23 June, 2012. This is the first time we have actually put the logo on a map of one of our events. A new accomplishment, I guess.
Now for the results which were two sprint events rolled into one total time like we used to do with the long distance event, two day total time. However, with a twist, the course was just done in reverse on the second map. Next year, two courses again but the format for the route will be different. I’ll bet you cannot wait until next year. Best put it into you calendar as it will likely be Saturday 22nd June!
A few comments:
Wonderful to see Troy and Cheryl Smith from CB, a 5 hour drive, one way! In the words of Troy: “Great event, great course”. He said this twice then said he was a Cape Bretoner so they say things twice.
From Moncton NB:
David Ross:“Great fun. First time I have gone out and back exactly the same way. “
Harold McQuade: I was very pleased how the SI equipment work out and trilled to watch Noah James expression on his face as competitors came in on course 3 and their ranking kept changing. Today’s generation has grown up with the new technology and expect to watch things unfold with immediate results.
See what everyone else missed!!!
A special thanks to Becky and Megan Ansems as well as their mom Shirley, Brian MacCulloch, Art Harding who helped with setting up, registration and finish results and taking down and to Harold McQuade for his work on Sportident to supply automatic results!
And, a big thank you to Bob Kaill and Bill Anderson for their assistance, including phone calls from Sweden and Ottawa respectively to assist me in updating the map and in setting the course along with how to use the course setting model in OCAD!
WOW! So many folks to assist.
In fact, Harold, when he saw the folks assisting at the meet said, Wow! You have so many people to help".
See what everyone else missed!!!
