2023 AGM Minutes for Review

Orienteering NS Gear

We'll be ordering some soon! If you already own ONS gear (or other Trimtex gear), please bring it to the AGM, so others can get an idea of some of the items and sizing. If you are looking for ONS gear, this is your chance to figure out what might fit, without using a measuring tape.

MapRun Course Information - available February 10th!

Control locations will NOT be flagged in any way in the terrain, however the courses will be available on MapRun, a smartphone app for orienteering that allows you to load the course onto your smartphone, track yourself using GPS, receive notifications when you reach each control and upload and compare your results to others who have completed the course. This app works quite well in open areas. Under tree cover, you may need to wait a few moments near the control site for the unit to pick up GPS and notify you.

For instructions, and to download MapRun for your iPhone or Android: https://maprunners.weebly.com/

For those with a Garmin device, MapRunG can also be used, and you can run without your phone: http://maprunners.weebly.com/maprung.html

You will find the courses using "Select Event" and

  • Clicking on the file icon, then "Canada", "Nova Scotia" and "2024", or
  • Clicking on the map icon, and searching for the point in Nova Scotia

If you wish to print your map, here they are:

Beginner (1.3km)
Intermediate (1.7km)
Advanced (2km)

Thank you to Pam James for planning these courses!
