Organizer: Cheryl Smith (Event Director)

REGISTRATION EXTENDED TO NOV 1, 2024 AT MIDNIGHT!! Save $5 by pre-registering :-)

This night orienteering event will use a special format (see below), with a mass start and a selection of courses.

It will be a Barebones style event, meaning the approach will be casual in order to minimize the amount of volunteer capacity required, while still providing an enjoyable event for orienteers.

The Schedule:

6:15pm Registration Opens

6:45pm Safety Brief

7:00pm Mass Start

8:15pm Course Time Limit

Registration will be inside the (warm and dry!) Louis Millet Centre - Room 117. We will walk to the start following the safety briefing. You will be given 1min to view your map prior to the start.

The Venue:

Lockhart Ryan Park is a mix of parkland, open fields, wooded trails and buildings. Lots of variety!

The Courses:

The full course consists of four loops, which can be selected and combined in 64 different ways, to make 15 distinct classes of variable difficulty. All the participants will be given the same map, showing all 4 loops, each loop being numbered independently, and each participant decides on site which loop(s) to do and in what order. Do one or do them all - the choice is yours, as long as you return to the finish before the time limit expires. If you start a course, you need to finish it in order to get credit for it! Full instructions to be provided during the briefing.

Two of the courses are more suitable for beginners.

VOLUNTEERS would be appreciated for a few tasks associated with the event (e.g. Beginner clinic, registration, control pickup). Please see HERE to sign up.

Registration:

Prior to participating in an event, all participants must have completed the one time Orienteering NS registration form and the Orienteering Canada waiver as part of registration process.

Once membership and waiver are completed, register for courses by completing the process at the registration site at the green button above or via the link here...

REGISTRATION LINK

Please ensure you register via this link by midnight FRIDAY, November 1, 2024 to ensure a map is printed for you. On-site check-in will take place on site from 6:15 to 6:45 pm.

Last minute registration: This can be done on site, but we typically only have a few extra maps; because we didn’t know you were coming. Also, pre-registration allows the on-site details to move more quickly.
